The graphic novel ‘Introduction to Chile’ in PDF version now!

AIsheet_smallOriginally produced in 1975 by the Chile Solidarity Campaign, and authored by Chris Welch, a reprint of the graphic novel ‘Introduction to Chile’, together with an e-version of the book was produced on the 40th Anniversary of the military coup by the Chile40YearsOn network with the support of Unite the Union. Now, on the year of the 45th Anniversary, we are pleased to announce the PDF version of it that can be downloaded free of charge from the bottom of the page. -This replaces the e-book.

It’s a great read, with humour and great cartoons, as well as an excellent rundown of Chilean history from Chile 45 Years On Logo5cmthe Conquistadors to Allende’s Socialist Government of Popular Unity, the Pinochet coup, the Solidarity movement here and the Chileans’ lives as political exiles in Britain.

Somehow an ebook version brings out sharply the story’s contemporary relevance – to Latin America and the worldwide onward march of neo-liberalism.

‘We Touched the Sky’: the new online educational resource, freely available HERE, NOW

copy-Chile-40-Years-On-LogoSmall1Learn about the Chilean experience, via video interviews with exiled Chileans living in Britain. They tell their life stories, from their initial inspiration as Allende and Popular Unity came to power in 1970, the extraordinary achievements they were part of, and their personal experiences in the run-up to, and on the day of the military coup (Sept 11th 1973) and its aftermath.

Four Chileans with widely different experiences tell of the euphoria of being part of huge social advances, the repression they suffered, the solidarity they received, and their arrival in Britain to make new lives as exiles and activists.
