{mosimage}Carol Barron, wife of a former miner and NUM official at Maltby, and now Rother Valley MP Kevin Barron has died suddenly in hospital.
Carol Barron was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack while taking part in celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of Maltby Colliery. She was taken to Rotherham District General where she died the next day.
Carol and her husband Kevin played a prominent role in the solidarity work in support of the Chilean refugees since they to arrive in Rotherham fleeing Pinochet’s dictatorship

Irma Vergara, an active member of our community living in Rotherham said: “We were all shocked and saddened to hear about Carol’s death. She was a very-liked person among the Chilean community in Rotherham and South Yorkshire. Carol and her husband Kevin were extremely supportive to all Chilean refugees that came to live in Rotherham, fleeing Pinochet’s dictatorship”

A funeral service for Carol will be held at St Bartholomew’s Church, Maltby, at 1.30pm on Friday followed by cremation at Rotherham Crematorium at 2.40pm.
