{mosimage}The second El Sueño Existe festival in Machynlleth, Wales is already generating a good deal of enthusiasm and interest.  We see the festival as a bridging point between the progressive left and the environmental movement and  we will be taking advantage of the proximity of the “Centre For Alternative Technology”  (see www.cat.org.uk)
We are planning a series of events to take place there as part of the festival on the Friday during the day and this will set the scene for a weekend of inspiration and fun.

At present we are considering the possibility of legendary Chilean band “Inti-Illimani” coming to the festival . The band itself is most interested in the idea but it remains to be seen whether it could work logistically. “Inti-Illimani”,as many will know, were one of the key ensembles of the “Chilean New Song” movement . They played recently at the inauguration of Raphael Correa ; the new president of Ecuador.
Radical roots West Country band “Seize The Day” will definitely be with us.

Their eclectic blend of global rhythms, layered harmonies and acoustic folk delivers a powerful vision of a greener and cleaner world. Their high energy performances have have wowed audiences at Glastonbury and Cambridge festivals  as well as  community events in rural India and America.

Dafydd Iwan is a Welsh folksinger and politician . He is president of “Plaid Cymru” and his song “Yma O Hyd” has become an anthem in his homeland. He wrote a song about Victor Jara; “Can Victor Jara” and also translated the song; “El Derecho De Vivir En Paz” into Welsh.

Attendees of our first festival in 2005 will remember “Cor Cochion”; the first socialist Welsh choir… They are a truly earthmoving and inspiring ensemble and took the festival by storm. We are over the moon to have them back.
