Denuncia al Consejo Nacional deTelevisión contra los canal de televisión chilenos que han acallado voluntariamente una información tracendental, que eventualmente estaría poniendo en tela de juicio el predominio de la libertad de expresión elemental para el desenvolvimiento de toda sociedad democrática.
The Hague, 18 August 2010 – The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) have become deeply concerned with the plight of 31 Mapuche detainees who have now entered the fifth week of their hunger strike.
The UNPO echoes the condemnation leveled at the Chilean government and judiciary by Mapuche human rights organizations for their handling of Mapuche grievances. Reports of paid witnesses, show trials, military courts, the highly inequitable anti-terrorism law which stifles Mapuche civil rights and the recent shocking hunger strikes of political prisoners have only intensified international concerns about disregard shown to the rights of the indigenous Mapuche people.
Press Release – August 19th 2010. A second wave of global protest was in initiated by the families of Mapuche political prisoners and hunger strikers on Weds 18th of August. The worldwide protest took place in the following countries, Chile, Argentina, England, France and Norway amongst numerous others.

In London a demonstration of solidarity with Mapuche hunger strikers took place in front of the Chilean embassy and was a well attended and peaceful event. Amongst its supporters were UK based NGO, Mapuche International Link, the Association of Chilean ex- political prisoners in the UK, Colombian Solidarity Campaign, Latin American Coordination, Memoria Historica, and many independent pro-Mapuche sympathisers. |
