Día Internacional de los Desaparecidos: martes 30 en Sheffield Town Hall steps

El martes 30 de agosto es el Día Internacional del Desaparecido. Esa fecha recuerda a todas las personas que fueron detenidas y que se encuentran en lugares ocultos, fuera de contacto con sus seres queridos, prensa o público en general.

Organizaciones de derechos humanos calculan que entre 1966 y 1986 unas 90.000 personas ”desaparecieron” en países como Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, México, Colombia, Perú, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay y Haití. Esta cifra incluye a niños de corta edad y a niños que nacieron mientras sus madres estaban detenidas en países como Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala y Uruguay. Read the rest of this entry »

Los estudiantes, investigadores y la comunidad de Chilenos en South Yorkshire (ChileSCDA) invita a participar en la manifestación en apoyo a los estudiantes en Chile por un sistema de educación pública gratis, equitativo y de calidad.

Sábado 20 de Agosto 2011, Sheffield Town Hall steps desde las 12:00 hasta las 13:30,

¡No a la educación en función del mercado y del sistema neoliberal!

Tenemos el sentimiento de comunicar el sensible fallecimiento de la compañera Olivia Henríquez, viuda del compañero Navea.

Se oficiará una misa el próximo viernes l5 de Julio. a las l4:00 horas en la Iglesia Saint Mary, Stoke Newington Church Street, Londres N16 9ES, (teléfono 0207 254 6072).

Sus restos se despedirán a las 15.30 horas en el Islington Crematorium, ubicado en 278 High Road ,East Finchley london N2 9AG.

Second generation Chilean photographer’s work in the Rotherham Family History Fair.

Luis Arroyo, a second generation Chilean exile, will be exhibiting his work at the ‘Rotherham Family History Fair’ on Saturday 26th March in Herringthorpe, Rotherham.

Talking about his work to ChileSCDA, Luis says “This is regarding my current photographic project. It consist in the construction of WebPages showing ‘Rotherham Now & Then’ in a series of old and new photographs. Over the years Rotherham has gone through a gradual change of transformation and many parts of our landscape have changed for ever. Once a building has gone, it is no longer with us. Bienvenidos al Club de español. Las sesiones se realizan todos los sábados en Old Junior School, South View Road. Sheffield S7 1DB

Este sábado el club es de 11:30 a 13:30 – con la merienda a las 13:00.

As you may know Luis Bastidas and I are trying to organise a reunion night out for all those Chileans and English friends who played football all those years ago. I have recently been uploading on the internet some memorable photos showing our past. They are on my ‘FaceBook’ page. They show some of the Chilean tournaments that took place in the UK. Those friendly matches against the Chileans from Leeds, Manchester, Scotland etc. Rotherham against Sheffield too. The inauguration of Allende Way in Darnall etc and many more. My attic is loaded with our past’
