Julian Filochowski’s visit North wales to talk about Archbishop Oscar Romero.  Oscar Romero was Archbishop for only three years but during that time he went from being a figure of the establishment to champion of the poor and oppressed in El Salvador. He was eventually executed by a member of a death squad with state connections whilst celebrating Mass.

Julian got to know him whilst working for Human Rights in Latin America.

He met him several times and was able to secure support for him in this

country.  Julian attended Romero’s funeral and witnessed the terrible deaths of many mourners who were fired on by the police.  Julian was also director of CAFOD for 21 years and has been awarded an OBE and CMG for services to International Development.
